DESCRIPTION
DEPARTMENT: Facilities Planning & Institutional Services SITE: DO
SALARY SCHEDULE: A&P GRADE: C
BASIC FUNCTION:
Provides professional services in development and design of various college construction projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
v Manages major college construction projects and coordinates involvement of Provosts, Program Directors, faculty and staff.
v Prepares schematic, preliminary and final contract construction drawings and specifications for bidding.
v Manages roof maintenance and repairs. Reviews shop drawings and submittals.
v Prepares information regarding design, specifications, materials, equipment, estimated costs, and building time for construction projects.
v Plans layout of project and integrates engineering elements into unified design.
v Assists in obtaining bids and awarding construction contracts.
v Serves as liaison for construction field work and contract administration and conducts periodic on-site observation of work in progress.
v Assists in the development of educational specifications (EDSPECS).
v Responsible for interpretation of user needs in preparing workable drawings.
v Directs college construction contract document review process.

Performs
related duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s degree in architecture. Must be registered and currently licensed by the State of Florida.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Three (3) years experience as an Architect.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of 6A-2 regulations. Knowledge of architectural design services needed for building construction. Knowledge of construction methods, techniques and procedures. Ability to read, develop and interpret construction contract documents. Management and supervisory skills. Ability to evaluate construction progress and quality through all phases of construction. Must be able to climb ladders and perform inspections on all construction sites.
