POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Coordinator, Construction Projects

DEPARTMENT: Facilities Services SITE: DO

SALARY SCHEDULE: A&P - GRADE: B

BASIC FUNCTION:

Performs field representative functions involving on-site inspection of the construction, remodeling or renovation of college facilities for compliance with plans and specifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

v      Performs on-site review work for compliance with codes, contract documents and overall quality.

v      Conducts UBCI inspections for compliance with applicable codes.

v      Coordinates with and acts as liaison between college personnel, design professionals and contractors.

v      Reviews and coordinates plans and specifications during document development process.

v      Expedites corrective action in various situations, including errors and omissions, unforeseen conditions and Owner request changes.

v      Reviews and approves contractor progress payments.

v      Works closely with other SPC employees during project design development, the construction process and office administrative activities.

v      Attends and participates in project job site meetings.

v      Assists in change order preparation. Assists in compilation and verification of contractor punch list.

v      Maintains telephone and written contact with contractors and design professionals regarding the various projects.

v      Performs related duties as required.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Three (3) years experience as a construction inspector in commercial construction, general contractor or contractor's superintendent in commercial construction, architectural, or engineering.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of construction methods, practices and procedures. Knowledge of building codes. Knowledge of State requirements for educational facilities. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings. Ability to interpret contract documents, plans and specifications. Ability to climb ladders and to perform inspections on-site. Ability to evaluate and compare construction quality and standards by performing on-site inspections. Ability to maintain good relationships with staff, contractors and design professionals. Written and verbal communications skills.
