POSITION DESCRIPTION

SALARY SCHEDULE: A&P - GRADE: C
BASIC FUNCTION:
Responsible for identifying
potential sources of funding from local, state and federal agencies, private
foundations/endowments; works with local, state and federal agency and
foundation/endowment personnel to meet the requirements for proposal
submission; works with subject matter experts to develop proposals to submit to
the identified agencies and foundations; provides assistance to others
interested in developing criminal justice grant proposals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
v
Reviews
pertinent professional literature, the internet, and other resources, and
communicates with agency/foundation personnel in order to identify funding
opportunities.
v
Contacts
and, when appropriate, visits funding sources to gather information about
funding sources and notifies potentially interested parties at SPC of those
identified opportunities.
v
Communicates
with SPC development officers, administrators and faculty about fundable
programs.
v
Develops
written proposal for submission.
v
Confers
with Business Services personnel and pertinent other to develop proposal budget.
v
Monitors
progress of proposal after submission.
v
Prepares
all correspondence in order to fulfill SPC Board of Trustees requirements.
v
Works
with Business Services and Grant Project Manager to set up grant budgets once
funding is secured.
v
Monitors
progress of funded proposals with Grants Accountant to ensure that all
procedures required by funding source are being met.
v
Writes
final reports as required by funding source.
v
Performs
all functions required of personnel in Educational and Student Services.
v Performs related duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree required.
Master's degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Five (5) years experience working in higher education including some experience as a grants officer in fields or areas related to higher education, liberal arts, health, social services, business and technology and public safety.. Experience in developing and writing programmatic proposals to governmental and private funding sources including development of curriculum/programs, budgets and budget narrative, timelines, and job descriptions.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL
REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Excellent computer skills. Knowledge of the grants process and related pertinent resources. Ability to write proposals. Ability to interact with outside sources and staff. Ability to manage the grants development process from identification of opportunity to setting up a new budget in timely manner.
