POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Grants Accountant

DEPARTMENT: Business Services SITE: DO/AC

SALARY SCHEDULE: A&P   GRADE: A

BASIC FUNCTION:

Provides accounting, auditing and financial controls relating to grant programs or the college's contractual relationship with a grant source.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

v      Performs grant administration by establishing grant records and reporting procedures and timetables. Performs fiscal year opening and closing of accounts.

v      Works closely with program and project managers to establish budgeting and procedural matters.

v      Prepares reimbursement packages for requesting funds from the source.

v      Prepares and files all reports required of the grant. Gathers and analyzes all necessary supporting documents to support reimbursement requests.

v      Monitors grants to assure compliance with policies for expenditures. Approves expenditures for accounting accuracy, adequate support and program relevance.

v      Prepares ledger entries to maintain grant activity accounts.

v      Performs cost analysis and creates statistical reports and data.

v      Performs related duties as required.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or in the business field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Three (3) years experience in accounting or auditing. Experience in higher education fund accounting is preferred. CPA preferred.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of computerized accounting practices and procedures. Knowledge of grant accounting. Knowledge of fund accounting. Knowledge of the college's procedures relating to grants. Knowledge of auditing practices. Ability to analyze and maintain complex computerized accounting records. Ability to prepare accounting reports. Ability to maintain good working relationships with staff and outside agencies. Computer and calculator skills.
