BASIC FUNCTION:
Responsible supervisory work
in directing the preparation and processing of college payrolls.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
v
Supervises
and participates in the preparation and processing of college payrolls.
v
Supervises
the staff involved in payroll certification, preparing payroll related reports
and maintaining payroll records for all college employees.
v
Assists
employees of the college by answering questions relating to payroll and related
information.
v
Works
with department budget supervisors and assists them in resolving problems.
Explains Federal or State requirements and payroll laws.
v
Performs
or supervises the balancing of payroll records to accounting records.
v
Prepares
and supervises the preparation of payroll tax reports and statistical data.
Prepares special reports and data as requested
v
Coordinates
payroll program changes with Data Systems staff.
v
Establishes
and monitors payroll processing procedures.
v
Performs
related duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in
Accounting or in the business field. Experience in payroll accounting.
EXPERIENCE
REQUIREMENTS:
Three (3) years experience
in accounting or auditing. Experience in higher education payroll accounting is
preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL
REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of computerized
accounting practices and procedures. Knowledge of payroll accounting. Knowledge
of the college's procedures, Federal and State laws relating to payrolls.
Knowledge of auditing practices. Ability to analyze and maintain complex
computerized accounting records. Ability to prepare accounting reports. Ability
to maintain good working relationships with staff. Computer and calculator
skills. Supervisory skills. Verbal and written communications skills.
Mathematics skills.
