POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Videographer

DEPARTMENT:     Various              SITE: Various

SALARY SCHEDULE: A&P             GRADE: B

BASIC FUNCTION:

Provide technical and leadership support for Advanced Video Services/ SPC-TV or NTPI,  such as originating, developing and producing programming for college television station, satellite broadcasts or video support for training projects and operating all technical equipment and computer hardware/software needed to complete such tasks.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Directs video projects in a team environment using faculty, administrators, and other technologists on pre-production scripting and visualizing of program components.

·         Performs studio and field videography as required to fulfill project goals (i.e. telecourse series or programs, short documentary, informational/promotional pieces.)

·         Participates in logistical requirements of travel arrangements for crew and gear transportation.

·         Produces, records, and modifies audio elements as required.

·         Performs post-production audio and video (analog and digital) editing, including creation of computer graphic components.

·         Performs studio production activities including lighting, camera operation, floor direction, audio and technical direction.

·         Works cooperatively with instructional technologists to incorporate video into distance learning projects.

·         Creates scripts, storyboards and logs.

·         Mentors and instructs junior personnel on video production and editing techniques.

·         Performs related duties as required.

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

B.A. or B.S. degree and specialized professional training.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

 

Three to five years experience performing television production and post-production editing in a commercial broadcasting, cable production unit, industrial, business or educational setting.  Examples of actual work shown in a demonstration product is essential. Editing experience must be on AVID, SONY, Scitex or other professional level linear/non-linear unit(s).

 

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Ability to operate non-linear editing systems such as Final Cut Pro III or Avid Express.  Ability to operate Studio and Field Camera equipment or Electronic News Gathering equipment.  Ability to produce assignments independently. Physical ability to carry and set up specific professional video camera equipment in the field, without assistance.  Ability and knowledge to lead subordinates and students through complicated video projects. Ability and knowledge to operate sophisticated television broadcast equipment. Ability to handle several job related projects and tasks simultaneously.
