POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Director, Human
Resources
DEPARTMENT: Human Resources
SITE: DO
SALARY SCHEDULE: A&P
- GRADE: F
BASIC FUNCTION:
Plans, organizes, staffs, directs and
controls Human Resources functions of the college.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops, maintains, reviews, and interprets
personnel and employee relations policies for the college.

Administers and directs the Human Resources
functions, including such activities as insurance, workers' and unemployment
compensation, employment, classification, personnel processing, training,
communications and labor relations.

Recommends hiring, trains, evaluates and
directs all personnel under immediate supervision.

Handles grievances.
-
Participates as a member of various college
committees.

Develops, modifies, maintains and interprets
procedures necessary to administer the functions assigned.

Responsible for establishing procedures
as needed.

Directs faculty certification and contracts.
-
Reviews, monitors and approves all travel
by college employees.

Chairs all Search and Screening Committees
for all career, instructional, professional and administrative vacancies.

Responsible for coordinating legal matters
that pertain to unemployment compensation, workers' compensation and labor
relations.

Responsible for conducting studies (statistical,
etc.) that relate to improvement of the Human Resources functions.

Reviews all personnel actions and recommendations
that go to the Board of Trustees from the President.

Performs related duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resources
or related areas.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Five (5) years experience in Human Resources
Management or educational administration.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of modern Human Resources
Management practices and procedures. Knowledge of laws relating to labor
relations and personnel administration. Verbal and written communications
skills. Ability to supervise a staff of Human Resources employees.
