POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Senior Vice President, Educational and Student Services

DEPARTMENT: Education and Student Services         SITE: DO

SALARY SCHEDULE: A&P                                                              GRADE: H

BASIC FUNCTIONS:

Plans, organizes, staffs, directs and controls all phases of the district academic and student services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

v      Recommends hiring, trains, evaluates and directs all personnel under immediate supervision.

v      Administers the development and implementation of curricula, courses and programs for the college

v      Develops and implements college policies, procedures and budgets in special academic and student areas, instructional/curricula innovations, educational research and developmental education.

v      Participates in planning of college instructional facilities.

v      Serves as college representative in academic or student affairs with local, state and federal agencies.

v      Handles grievances under immediate supervision.

v      Serves on various statewide committees.

v      Responsible for establishing informal procedures as needed.

v      Performs related duties as required.

v      This position is also identified as a cabinet level position which has college wide management responsibilities.

v      Supervises staff, program development, college libraries, central records, athletics, grants, workforce development, and services to students with disabilities.

v      Serves on Technology Oversight Group, Fiscal Oversight Group and Human Resources.

v      Assists the President in issues related to resources and facilities, human resources, planning and effectiveness.

v      Chair Provost Group and works with Provosts on a daily operational issues.

v      Serves as the officer-in-charge in the absence of the President.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Doctorate degree.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Seven (7) years experience, including five (5) years top-level administrative experience in academic and/or student affairs.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of educational administration and management. Verbal and written communications skills. Ability to deal effectively with students, faculty and staff.
