AAP0825 Community Band
The SPC Community Band is a group of senior citizens who practice weekly and perform monthly on Saturdays throughout the school year at the Clearwater Campus. There is a minimal fee per term for the conductor and music.
AAP0831 Community Chorus
This course allows community residents to perform with SPC vocal students under the direction of Dr. Vernon Taranto. The students perform locally several times throughout the year. Basic techniques of singing are developed through group and sectional rehearsals. There is a minimal fee charged each term for music.
AAP0871 Piano for Fun
This class is for beginning and intermediate piano students. At each class, students initially meet in a group, then individual instruction on the student’s chosen piece of music follows in the last hour of each class. This class, taught by James Weaver, is held in a piano lab where each student has his/her own piano. Students enrolled in the class have access to the piano lab for practice during posted practice hours.
AAP0930 Community Orchestra
This class is offered to adults in St. Petersburg who enjoy playing and performing in an orchestra. The group is conducted by Jonathan Steele, SPC’s Dean of Fine and Applied Arts. An audition is required and a minimal fee for music is charged each term.
AAP0950 Steel Drum Ensemble
This course consists of the study and performance of steel drums. The class is taught by a practicing professional, Joe Braccio, in a music lab that houses 12 of these instruments.
AAP0823 Guitar
This class is for beginning guitar students meeting in a group with instructor Joe Braccio. Emphasis is placed on music reading and elementary techniques. Students must have their own guitar.
