POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Chief Television Engineer
DEPARTMENT: NTPI SITE: AC
SALARY SCHEDULE: Technical - GRADE: 3
BASIC FUNCTION:
Performs professional services in the design, integration, installation, operation and maintenance of the NTPI studio and television systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Designs analog and digital RF, video/audio production and distribution, satellite uplink, TVO downlink systems.
Develops written specifications for bidding, purchasing, installation and/or repair of complete television transmission and distribution systems and equipment.
Performs and/or coordinates installation of equipment and systems.
Maintains and repairs color television systems of all types.
Maintains and repairs transmitting and receiving equipment.
Operates all television transmission, production, editing, distribution and satellite uplink/downlink systems.
Develops plans for NTPI broadcast television transmission, production, editing and distribution systems.
Maintains engineering relationships with cable and wireless companies to insure quality program transmission.
Works with other departments on television and cable distribution system expansion in new and renovation projects.
Designs and maintains computer software programs for engineering maintenance and equipment inventory records. Designs facilities for prototype system.
Performs related duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Associate's degree in a related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Five (5) years experience in broadcast transmission and distribution systems, satellite uplink and downlink facilities, MATV, CCTC, and CATV systems design, installation, and maintenance.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of television broadcast and distribution systems design and operation. Knowledge of satellite uplink and downlink operation. Knowledge of current FCC broadcast and operating rules, regulations and standards. Knowledge of current satellite TVRO equipment and standards. Ability to write bid specifications for equipment. Ability to design, install, operate and maintain a variety of television and related equipment and systems. Ability to trouble shoot television, audio, video, editing and TVRO satellite systems. Ability to operate all television and related equipment. Ability to operate satellite uplink and downlink facilities. Ability to perform technical liaison between the college and outside companies. Skill in the use of hand and special tools. Skill in the use of electronic test equipment. Possession of a valid First Class or General Class FCC License.
