POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: International Students Activities Coordinator
DEPARTMENT:

SITE: Various
SALARY SCHEDULE: Career - GRADE: 7
BASIC FUNCTION:
Coordinates college wide International student activities and support services.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinates international student activities in conjunction with campus
student activities coordinators to foster a college-wide international
community.

Assists with development of support services for international students.

Orients and instructs international students as to college policy and
procedures.

Assists with the maintenance and updating of the International Student
Manual.

Attends ESL and International meetings at the college as needed to be
consistent on each campus.

Organizes orientation/welcome week; facilitates workshops and seminars that
foster retention and student success.

Coordinates activities and field trips for the international student
populations that encourage adaptation and understanding of American culture
through community interaction.

Maintains an SPC e- newsletter for International students.

Assists with recruitment of international students, with activities such as
an International visitor program.

Assists with procedural and technological tasks as assigned.

Develops and maintains a mentoring program for incoming international
students.

Performs related duties as required.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a related field or an
equivalent combination of professional education and international experience.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Three
(3) years experience in event planning , public and/or international relations
or related experience working within the international community; bilingual
preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL
REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of academic departments and programs in an institution of higher
education. Knowledge of the techniques used in recruitment and retention of
international students. Ability to relate to students in the specialized area of
assignment. Verbal and written communication skills. Computer skills. Ability to
work with students, faculty, and staff.
