POSITION TITLE: Telecommunications Technician

DEPARTMENT: Facilities Planning & Institutional Services SITE: DO

SALARY SCHEDULE: Technical - GRADE: 1

BASIC FUNCTION:

Performs technical support repair, installation and maintenance of telecommunications equipment and systems at all college sites.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs technical support duties relating to personal computer, peripheral, printers, monitors. telephones and office equipment.
• Performs service, repair and installation work relative to the collegewide telecommunications equipment and systems.
• Maintains, services and repairs microcomputers, including Mac, Apple, AT&T, IBM, etc., telephones, typewriters, printers, duplicating and related equipment.
• Maintains computerized parts inventory system.
• Performs repair work on other equipment assigned.
• Prepares reports related to job duties, time, materials, et cetera.
• Performs related duties as required.

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Three (3) years experience on the service and repair of telecommunications equipment and installation.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge and ability to use, service and repair computers, telephones and network systems. Ability to perform diagnostic trouble shooting and analysis. Ability to perform repairs on telecommunications equipment. Ability to lift medium weight equipment. Valid Florida driver's license. Skill in reading comprehension. Ability to pass a post-qualification physical examination.
