POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Web Design Specialist-IA

DEPARTMENT: Institutional Advancement SITE: DO

SALARY SCHEDULE: Technical - GRADE: 2

BASIC FUNCTION:

Designs and provides Web site changes and updates to ensure quality, creativity and appropriateness directed toward advertising and marketing SPC Web site.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•  Monitors the SPC Website and suggests changes and updates to insure quality, creativity and appropriateness.

• Works with the college marketing staff to produce Web advertising and to identify Web marketing opportunities.
• Analyses the Web site to determine the needs and works with the technical, artistic and editorial staff of the college to make necessary changes.
• Helps to determine the best ways to market the college on the World Wide Web by working with college marketing staff.
• Works with the staff of various college departments to insure that the SPC Web site is artistically appealing and user friendly. 
• Assists faculty and other college employees with Web site design when requested and improve Web pages that need upgrades or redesign.
• Surveys Web sites of other colleges and benchmarks “best practices”.
• Performs related duties as required.

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

AA degree in Web Design or Graphics or a Bachelor’s Degree in English.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Two years experience in designing Web pages and managing projects requiring group consensus building.  Experience in marketing is desired. 

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of computer graphics, software, spreadsheets, databases and web page layout. Knowledge of the techniques used in web development and how Web systems function. Ability to relate to technical and academic people in designing and maintaining Web systems.  Ability to build consensus in a college environment. Skill in coordinating people and ideas. Writing and editing skills. Possession of customer service skills.
