POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Master Cabinetmaker

DEPARTMENT: Institutional Services                  SITE: Various

SALARY SCHEDULE: Facilities/Skilled Trades     LEVEL: 4

BASIC FUNCTION:

Performs skilled master level finish cabinetry work.  Responsible for the design, building, finishing and installation of custom cabinetry and case-work in accordance with college specifications and standards. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for meeting with the customers to determine needs.
• Responsible for working with Interior Design department on design, finishes and hardware standards of custom cabinetry and case-work. 
• Responsible for designing custom cabinetry in accordance with college specifications and standards. 
• Responsible for obtaining estimates and ordering materials needed for custom cabinetry and case-work.
• Responsible for reading and building custom cabinetry from blueprints, drawings and sketches. 
• Responsible for the maintenance of assigned vehicle.
• Responsible for the operation and maintenance of cabinetry related tools and machinery.
• Directs the work of the cabinetmaker.
• Repairs and replaces doors, windows and may install hardware.
• Maintains records of time and material used on jobs.
• Assures acceptable customer service standards are met and maintained.
• Performs related duties as required.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.

Two years of verifiable formal training in cabinetry field. 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Eight (8) years experience in one or more of the construction trades with emphasis on the particular area of specialization required by the college.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge of the construction trades. Knowledge of building codes. Ability to climb ladders and lift heavy equipment. Knowledge of the equipment and tools used in a variety of trades work. Knowledge of basic mathematics. Skill in reading comprehension. Ability to pass a post qualification physical examination. Must possess a CDL Class "D" Florida Driver's License.
