A.     Course Description:

 

 

         This course is a study of the Instruction in principles of weight training.  The primary emphasis is to increase skeletal muscular strength increases.  General fitness improvement is also involved.  Three hours weekly47 contact hours.

 

 

B.      Major Learning Outcomes:

 

         1.   The student will develop an understanding of strength training techniques.

 

         2.   The student will demonstrate aacquire knowledge of basic concepts of overall physical fitness.

 

         3.   The student will develop skills essential for the safe and productive use of strength training equipment.

 

 

C.     Course Objectives Stated in Performance Terms:

 

         1.   The student will demonstrate develop an understanding of strength training techniques as measured by his/her ability to:

 

               a.                                                                              Recognizerecognizing sound and unsound statements in written tests;.

 

               b.   Illustrate developing proper techniques during classroom laboratory time.

 

         2.   The student will demonstrate demonstrate aacquire knowledge of basic concepts of overall physical fitness as measured by his/her ability to:

 

               a.   Recognize recognizing sound and unsound statements on written tests.

              

               b.   developing an appreciation for lifelong fitness.

 

         3.   The student will demonstrate develop skills essential for the safe and productive use of strength training equipment as measured by his/her ability to:

 

               a.   Recognize recognizing sound and unsound statements on written tests;.

 

               b.   Illustrate illustrating proper usage of equipment during classroom laboratory time.

 

 

D.     Criteria Performance Standard:

 

            Classroom measures developed by individual instructors will be used to measure student achievement of the above objectives at a 70 percent minimum level of performance.

 

Upon successful completion of the course the student will, with a minimum of 70% accuracy, demonstrate mastery of each of the above stated objectives through classroom measures developed by individual course instructors.
