By law, SPC is required to provide
reasonable accommodations for students with documented disabilities.
The Office of Services for Students with Disabilities (OSSD)
is the central place on your campus for the review of documentation
and approval of accommodations.
This website has been created to provide faculty
and staff a wealth of information on ways you can better
assist students with disabilities. As you search the
site, you will find workshops dealing with disabilities that provide you with insights
into your students and strategies that will enhance learning
for all; an opportunity to ask a question directly to a
Learning Specialist; SPC's Faculty Guide: Reasonable
Accommodations for Students with Disabilities; and links
to informative websites such as organizations that focus
on specific disabilities; legal issues, etc.
Explore the workshops available to you on this website. You can learn the basics
of the Americans with Disabilities Act; how to recognize
and adapt your teaching for a student with a hidden disability;
strategies for working with students with learning disabilities;
and how Assistive Technology works. These workshops are
designed as a Prototype Online course and provide you with
several approaches to learning by the click of your mouse.
Use the “Ask
the Learning Specialist” link on this website
if you have questions – you will receive an answer
within 72 hours.
If you have any questions about the website,

We hope you will visit the website often and
take advantage of the information.
