eCampus Student Population, Fall 2002
September 2002
(Profile Based on 4907 Unduplicated Headcount)
Summary
The eCampus population continues to mirror the general SPC student population to a growing degree. As in previous sessions, the eCampus population remains -
- heavily rooted in Florida and Pinellas County.
- predominantly female.
- parallel to the general SPC population in ethnic makeup.
- increasingly diverse in its distribution of majors, particularly with the addition of bachelor's degree options.
- comparable to the non-eCampus population in GPA and hours enrolled, but significantly farther along in terms of hours completed.
Geography
Our geographic distribution is roughly the same as in the past:
- 96.3% of eCampus students come from Florida, down only slightly from 96.4% in Session II of last year.
- The percentage of students from Pinellas County remains unchanged at 77.6%.
- Non-Florida students still represent 31 other states, plus Puerto Rico (2), Canada (1), Germany (1) and one unspecified U.S. APO (1).
- New York(28 students) and Virginia (16) continue to contribute the most non-Florida students, followed by Georgia and Illinois at 10 each.
Florida cities contributing the largest percentage of students include:
- St. Petersburg 22.1%, down from 23.3% in Session II of last year
- Clearwater 14.8%, down slightly from 14.9%
- Largo 11.7%, up from 10.5%
- Palm Harbor 7.8%, up slightly from 7.51%
- Seminole 5.0%, down from 5.9 %
- Pinellas Park 3.9%, up from 3.2%
- Tarpon Springs 3.28% (not counted in previous report)
(Among non-Pinellas cities, Tampa contributed 4.0% and New Port Richey 3.5%.)

The range of specific major codes represented by eCampus students continues to grow steadily as the overall population grows, more courses are available, and the bachelor's degree program offers more options. 147 major codes are now represented. Those enrolling the most students include:
