Web Site Activity Report
Summary
Overall usage of the site is down 11.9% from the comparable period last year. The most probable cause of this is the Spring 2005 launch of MySPC, which provides a new Web entry point for online students.

During February 2007 the eCampus site drew a total of 95,764 visits, or a daily average of 3,420 visits per day. Individual visitors averaged 4.57 visits during the month, with each visitor viewing an average of 2.39 pages.
The significant decline in traffic suggests that the site may be evolving into less of a resource for enrolled students and more of one for prospective students. In the coming year an effort will be made to further enhance the draw of the site for prospective students while maintaining its value as a source of support services for enrolled students. The website will be updated in July 2007.
Usage Schedule
Except for the decrease in overall traffic, February 2007 showed little change in usage patterns.
- Monday and Saturday, respectively, remain the most active and least active days of the week.
- 12 noon-1 p.m. is the busiest hour of the day, with 2-5 a.m. being the quietest.
Operating Systems
- Windows continues to be the dominant platform at 96.9%, followed by Macintosh at 2.1% and Linux at <1%.
- Among the Windows versions, XP leads with 85% of users--up from 78% previously-- followed by Windows 2000 at 7.5% and Windows 98 at just under 3%. Windows Vista has appeared for the first time at <1%.
Browsers
- Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 88% down from 91.3% the previous year while Firefox has increased to 8.8% up from 5.6% a year ago.
- Macintosh’s Safari has increase from 1% to 1.7% followed by Netscape and Mozilla, each at <1%.
Pages Most Accessed
#1: Not surprisingly, the eCampus login page remains the site’s most requested page, since it is the point of entry for enrolled students who access their courses via the eCampus site. It was viewed 111,509 times in February, and was the point of entry for 23,284 visitor sessions. It should be noted that the decline from last year could be attributed to the enhanced features and marketing of the MySPC portal which is now more commonly used by students.
#2: The next most requested page continues to be the eCampus home page, with 91,317 views. It was the entry page for 67,348 sessions.
These two pages comprised the bulk of activity on the eCampus site, reflecting their use as entry pages by students accessing their courses for day-to-day coursework. This accounts for the large gap between the total views of the #2 ranked page (91,317) and those of the #3 ranked page (5,102).
#3: Degrees and certificates page came in at #3 with 5,102 views. Only 10% of those views were entry pages.
#4: The e-course catalog, ranks 4th with 4,920 views unchanged from a year ago, followed by:
#5: ANGEL help, the institutions Learning Management System (LMS), had 1721 views and 1278 entries.
#6: Is eCampus for You? (This page’s 1,510 views during the month suggest students considering online courses are interested in tools to help them determine if online learning is a good fit for them. However, the site’s e-learning quiz was viewed only 402 times. The “Is eCampus for You?” page also links to the sample online course, which may be the next stop for many users. At this time we do not have a counter installed to track visits to the sample course, but one will be implemented shortly.
#7: Admission/Registration moved up from number 10 last year with 1737 views, indication that the eCampus page is being used more often by new students.
#8: Tuition, fees and refunds (1,199 views)
#9: About e-courses. With 1,061 views during February, or an average of 38 per day, this page provides an overview of online learning.
#10: Admission/registration guide (773 views)
Announcements page. This page fell from the #2 spot in May 2005, accruing only 989 views in February 2006. The capability of posting announcements on both MySPC and the ANGEL home pages may account for the decline and in 2007 was not ranked in the top 10
