National Achievers Society (NAS)

  Program is Designed to:

  • Developed an alternative to athletic rewards.
  • Introduce minority students to the academic, cultural  and social contributions of African American and others minorities. 
  • Connect students with adult mentors.
  • Help 3rd through 12th grade students be involved in the community.
  • Prepare students to take on the world by becoming more culturally aware.

A National Achievers is:

  • An A or B student having a minimum of two A's and  no C's (unless those C's are in advanced or honors classes).
  • Positive example for others students.
  • Active in their community.
  • GPA 3.0 or higher.

 Program Offers:

  • Academic/Social Seminars & Workshops;
  • Career field trips;
  • Community services opportunity;
  • Tutoring/mentoring.

A National Achiever Must:

  • Complete a community service project.
  • Attend the statewide Annual Conference for NAS students.
  • Be nominated/sponsored by and adult (parent, principal, or a counselor) who will agree to attend the induction ceremony, purchase the Achiever's jacket and T-Shirt (about  $50), serve as a significant person in the Achiever's life and have an active influence in the student's academic life.

The Florida Education Fund (FEF) , under the leadership of Dr. Israel Triblle Jr., committed to the model and belief that the Centers of Excellence program should  permeate every African-American community in the state of Florida, as well as the nation. Hug B. Price, president of the national Urban League (NUL), led the charge to adopt the FEF's model on a national level through the National Urban League Affiliates' Network..  under the auspices of the Campaign for American Achievement,  the NUL and its partnering organizations officially adopted the Achievers Society.
