- Indicate important differences between endocrine and neural controls of
body functioning.
- List the major endocrine organs, and briefly describe their location in
the body. Identify which hormones are produced by the cells of each organ.
- Describe how hormones are classified chemically. Describe the two major
mechanisms by which hormones bring about their effects on their target tissues.
Include specific information on how protein production is affected.
- Identify the three general mechanisms of stimulation of production of hormones.
- For all hormones, demonstrate your understanding of their roles in the body.
Indicate the conditions that cause their production to be stimulated. Lists
the specific cells that are targeted by the hormones. List specific actions
performed by each target cell in response to elevated hormones.Use
this hormonal negative feedback loop template.
- Categorize hormones that affect following conditions: blood glucose; blood
Na ions, blood K ions, blood Ca ion levels, water and blood osmotic pressure.
Indicate whether the hormone increases or decreases each condition.
- Identify the short term stress hormones and list their specific actions
aimed at resisting stress.
- Identify the long term stress hormones and list their specific actions aimed
at resisting stress.
- Give examples of disorders associated with listed hormones.
