| Discussion: | Nov12-16 Gold week celebrates the birth of Phi Theta Kappa. We want to have a movie night on that Monday. The movie will be in FA132 at 5:00pm. Beautification of campus is going to be on Tuesday of that week at 2:00pm. We would like to clean our adopt a mile at 2:00pm on Wed. All of these will help with our service goals. There will also be a Phi Theta Kappa Day on that Thursday. This will be a good time to recruit new members. On Friday of that week a joint leadership/scholarship project. Does everyone like these ideas? (Adam) This is our big week. We are going to be forming committees for these events. Some of these things are going to go towards our 5 star development. At the next meeting we are going to have signup sheets for the events. Student activities provides food and drinks. Our movie nights have been unsuccessful in the past. This is why we won’t purchase food. (Mr.Chapman) How can we get students to come to movie night? (Adam) Publicize the event around campus. (Mr.Chapman) Who from PTK will be at the Movie Night Event? (Chris) This is going to be a big week for us. Please participate in as many events as you can. Peng and I will like to start a project with tutoring. This will be during mid- term and final times. | Discussion: | (Showed our newsletter in color) Our newsletters are usually four pages long. We write about all of our events. If anyone wants to help with the newsletter, that would be great. If you want to write anything, send it to me. You can contact me through Adam or the Yahoo group. If you have any photos from events, you can pass them along to me. I show up at the big events to get information for the articles. It would be great if I’m not the only one to write the articles for the newsletters. | Discussion: | The most prestigious thing for a chapter is to be called 5 star chapter. We currently have 3 stars. We need to institute one more program. (Mr.Chapman) CAP center is an after school program. We can take these children to the campus and give them a tour. I need a volunteer to contact FEAST of Palm Harbor. They collect food for poor and homeless people. I also need a volunteer to get contact with Shepards Center in Tarpon Springs. This is an outreach center that helps people who are in need. (Michele) I helped out two years ago at the CAP center. It was absolutely amazing. These kids really need help. A lot of these kids parents are in jail, have drug problems, or work all day. (Mr.Chapman) The CAP center is a great experience. When those children go there, they know they are loved. |
